Life at Makoha
Rooms
We encourage our residents to make their bedroom feel as homely as possible. We make arrangements to set up your own furniture and belongings if you prefer. We offer both single and shared ensuite bedrooms. Our bedrooms with ensuites are shared with one other room, with a privacy system ensuring that the ensuites cannot be entered if occupied. Our ensuite bedrooms have a heat pump, television, furniture and bed included. We encourage our residents to make their bedroom feel as homely as possible. We can make arrangements to set up your own furniture and belongings if you prefer.
Communal Areas
Makoha offers a Registered Nurse on site as well as other Health Care Assistants, and GP visits included. All laundry is also included. We have a main dining area with a television and a north facing deck, as well as a lounge area. There is also a coffee station for making yourself a cuppa between meals and for family visiting. We also have a physiotherapy room should you need it. For transport, Makoha has a wheelchair accessible van for general outings, and doctor or hospital appointment.
Activities
Makoha residents are able to partake in a range of activities. These include rehabilitation activities, sit & get fit classes, bingo (residents’ favourite), pottery, one on one pampering, mirimiri, games & cards, concerts from local Kapa Haka groups, walks, a monthly happy hour, school visits to read to residents, therapy dog visits, shopping trips and van outings.
Food
All meals provided are cooked on site, and can cater for all dietary requirements. Menus have also been reviewed by a qualified dietitian to ensure they are nutritious & residents have a well-balanced diet.
